What "Know Your Customer" means

Know Your Customer (KYC) represents the standard procedure through which a financial institution validates that a client is a genuine, verifiable individual, and that the particulars supplied during account setup are correct.

In practice, KYC at AfriRykdom X means we collect and confirm a small set of basic facts about you: your full legal name, your date of birth, your country of residence, your contact details and the payment method you intend to use. We compare the details you typed into the sign-up form with the details shown on the documents you upload.

What we do not do

We will never request your internet banking credentials, complete card PIN, or administrative access to your computer. No person employed by us will ever solicit those details. Any communication requesting them does not originate from us and should be reported via the complaints mechanism.

What "anti-money laundering" means

Anti-money laundering (AML) is the set of internal controls a financial service uses to prevent its platform from being used to move the proceeds of crime, to finance illegal activity, or to disguise the true origin of funds.

AML controls are broader than a one-off identity check. They cover risk classification of new accounts, sanctions and politically-exposed-person screening, limits on unusual funding patterns, record keeping, internal escalation of suspicious activity and, where the applicable law requires it, reporting to the competent authority.

Where AML rules and a client instruction conflict, the AML rules take priority. That can mean a delayed transaction, a request for additional documents, or a restricted account until the matter is resolved.

Rationale

Why verification is required

  1. 01

    Legal obligation

Entities that maintain or move client money are typically obliged to authenticate their clients prior to offering the service. This requirement is mandatory and extends to all accounts with no exclusions.

  2. 02

    Protecting your money

Verification establishes a connection between an account and a sole verified proprietor. This substantially reduces the risk of unauthorized account access, and ensures that refunds can only go to a payment channel verified as yours.

  3. 03

    Keeping the platform clean

Screening keeps sanctioned parties and anonymous shell activity off the platform, which protects every other client using it.

  4. 04

    Faster payouts later

An account verified up front does not have to stop for checks at withdrawal time, which is when delays are least welcome.

Documents

Which documents are accepted

We ask for up to three categories of document. Files should be colour images or PDFs, fully in frame, unedited, with all four corners and all text legible.

1. Identity document

An officially-issued credential displaying your likeness, complete name, birth date, credential identifier and validity period. Standard accepted formats include a passport, state-issued identity card, or driving permit issued as a pictorial identity credential. The credential must be current and not lapsed.

2. Proof of address

A recent document, usually issued within the last few months, showing your name and your residential address as it appears on your account. Typical examples are a utility statement, a bank or card statement, a local tax or municipal notice, or an official letter from a public authority. Post-office boxes and addresses belonging to someone else are not accepted.

3. Proof of payment method

Confirmation that the payment instrument is owned by you. For a debit or credit card, this ordinarily means a photo depicting your name, the opening six and closing four numerals plus the validity period, with intermediate digits and card security code obscured.

For a bank account transfer, this is a bank statement or account confirmation bearing your name and the account number. For a digital payment account, a photo of the profile screen showing your name and account number.

Formats and file size

Submission size restrictions, permitted document styles and any supplementary document prerequisites are displayed in your account's verification section. Materials in a script different from your account's main language may need professional translation; our compliance division will alert you if required.

Process

The verification steps

  1. 01

    Register

Open the account using your authentic legal identity, birth date, home jurisdiction, contact email and mobile number. Data discrepancies with your submitted materials are the leading source of processing delays.

  2. 02

    Confirm contact details

Authenticate your email and, if prompted, authenticate your phone. This demonstrates that the communication avenues genuinely belong to you.

  3. 03

    Upload your identity document

Upload the pages that carry your photograph and personal data. Some checks include a short liveness or selfie step to confirm the document belongs to the person holding it.

  4. 04

    Upload proof of address

Upload a recent qualifying document in your name at the address on file.

  5. 05

    Confirm the payment method

Supply documentation confirming the source from which you will transfer funds and the target to which you will request refunds.

  6. 06

    Screening and review

Our compliance team reviews the file, runs the required sanctions and risk screening, and either approves the account or asks for a correction.

  7. 07

    Confirmation

You receive a notification once the account status changes. The current status is always visible in the verification area of your account.

Timing

How long a check takes

The bulk of comprehensive applications are processed within several hours up to two calendar business days. Submissions needing deeper assessment, interpretation into another language or accompanying paperwork will require extra time.

Processing duration varies based on incoming volume, submission caliber and whether heightened review procedures are activated. The anticipated timeline relevant to your specific account, together with the current phase of each submission, appears in your profile section - use this published timeframe as the authoritative reference, not any other estimate.

  • Clear, complete, unedited uploads are reviewed fastest.
  • Requests submitted outside business hours are queued for the next working day.
  • Enhanced review, where required, adds time and is communicated to you.
Troubleshooting

Why a check can be rejected

A denial typically stems from a submission flaw, not an assessment of your background. Ordinarily you are able to resubmit straightforwardly and obtain clearance upon resubmission.

If a decision is unclear to you, contact support and ask for the reason. Where the law permits us to explain, we will.

Ongoing controls

Ongoing transaction monitoring

Verification represents an ongoing obligation. Accounts and monetary movements are continuously evaluated throughout the duration of the business connection.

What is monitored

Funding and withdrawal patterns, changes of payment instrument, changes of country or contact details, activity that does not match the profile you gave at sign-up, and any activity flagged by our screening tools.

What can happen as a result

  • A request for refreshed documents or an explanation of the source of funds.
  • A temporary hold on a specific transaction while it is reviewed.
  • Adjustment of the limits published in your account.
  • Restriction or closure of the account where the law requires it.

Records

Identification data and transaction records are retained for the period required by applicable law after the relationship ends, and are handled in line with our Privacy Policy. In some situations applicable regulation restricts our capacity to disclose to a client that a notification has been filed.

Your side

Your obligations

  • Give accurate, current and complete information, and keep it up to date.
  • Utilize exclusively your personal finances and your personal payment channels - never use another party's resources.
  • Retain a solitary account registration, and safeguard your login information.
  • Supply requested paperwork within the window stipulated in the notice.
  • Tell us promptly if you change country of residence, legal name or payment method.
  • Report any suspected unauthorised access to your account immediately.

Submitting falsified or altered documents is a serious matter. It leads to closure of the account and, where applicable law requires, notification of the competent authority.

Support

Where to ask questions

In the event this material is confusing, or you desire to learn the precise standing of your own verification, reach out to us prior to resubmitting materials.

Who reviews my documents?

A trained compliance reviewer. Files are stored on restricted systems, and access is limited to staff who need it for the check.

Can I start before I am verified?

Registration and account preview are permitted, but deposits, market participation and fund redemption hinge on the verification standing displayed within your profile.

Do I have to verify again later?

It is feasible. Credentials have expiration dates, residence details evolve and refreshing verification periodically is standard procedure for financial crimes prevention. We will contact you if a recheck becomes necessary.

How do I contact the compliance team?

Use the contact route on our contact page and mention "KYC" or "verification" in your message, together with the email address on your account. Please do not send document images by unsecured channels - upload them in the account area instead.

Licenses & regulatory information

Before you upload

Get verified once, cleanly

Three factors account for ninety per cent of processing delays: an unclear photograph, an address document that is no longer current, and a payment method registered under another person's name. Addressing these issues results in most verifications being approved on the initial attempt.

Need help with a document?

Our support team can tell you exactly which file was rejected and why.

  • Before proceeding, review the verification section located in your account.
  • Then contact support with your registered email address.
